    Amritsar is a city located in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab. The city is home to the Harmandir Sahib, also known as the "Golden Temple," one of Sikhism's most holiest sites. The city was founded in 1577 by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh guru. The city became a major center of the Sikh Empire in the 18th and 19th centuries. After the empire's collapse, the city was annexed by the British Raj. During the British rule, the city was a major center of the Indian independence movement. The city was also the site of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, in which British troops opened fire on a peaceful crowd of protesters, killing hundreds. After India's independence in 1947, the city was declared a part of the newly formed state of Punjab.

    Jalandhar is one of the oldest cities in India. It is believed to have been founded by a ruler of the ancient Punjab kingdom, who named it after his son, Jalandhara. The city has a long history, and has been ruled by a number of different empires and dynasties, including the Sikhs, the Mughals, and the British. Today, Jalandhar is a major industrial city, and is home to a number of large businesses and manufacturing plants.

    Barnala is one of the districts of Indian state of Punjab. Earlier, Barnala was part of Sangrur district, but now Barnala is an independent district. It is a centrally located district bordered by Ludhiana district on the north, Moga district on northwest, Bathinda district on west and by Sangrur district on all other sides. As per census 2011, Population of District Barnala is 5,96,294. Barnala has sufficient number of Colleges to provide sufficient education in the field of Engineering, Arts, Medical and Commerce. Also, Barnala is well known for its Industries. Two main Industries, Trident Group which is mainly known for its world class towels is established in this District. Second, a large Industry producing combines, Standard Combines is also established here.

    Bathinda, originally known as Tabar-e-Hind or Tabarhindh, was founded by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 1504. The city got its name from the presence of hot springs. The city served as the capital of the Sikh Empire from 1765 to 1846. The city was captured by the British in 1846 during the First Anglo-Sikh War. It was then annexed to the province of Punjab. After the independence of India in 1947, the city became a part of the newly formed state of Punjab.

    The city of Chandigarh was designed by the architect Le Corbusier and is one of the first planned cities in India. It was built after the Partition of India in 1947 to serve as the new capital of the Punjab region and was named after the Hindu goddess Chandi. The city is home to a number of important government buildings and institutions, as well as many historical and cultural sites.

    Fazilka is a 165 year old historical town located in southwestern Punjab, India. It is on the India-Pakistan border and is 11 km off the international border with Pakistan. The town was established in 1844 and was christened after the original owner of the land, Mian Fazil Watoo. It is situated on the rice growing and cotton rich belt of the state and is one of the major rice exporting centers in India. Before partition, the town was the biggest wool market in undivided Punjab. Fazilka is also home to the second biggest TV tower in Asia, which stands at 305 m above the ground.

    The Faridkot District was carved out of the erstwhile Bathinda District on 4th April 1992 on the bifurcation of Bathinda District as a result of re-organization of Districts in the State of Punjab. The Headquarters of the district is Faridkot. It is situated in the South-Western part of the Punjab Province. The district shares its boundary with Bathinda & Muktsar districts in the North, Ferozepur district in the West and Moga & Barnala districts in the East. The area of the district is 2079 Sq. Kms. It is divided into 4 Sub-Divisions viz. Faridkot, Kotkapura, Jaito & Bhagu. There are 6 Tehsils & 1 Sub-Tehsil in the district. There are 5 development Blocks in the district. The district has a population of 10,32,573 persons as per the Census-2011. The district has been named after the historic town of Faridkot.

    District of Fatehgarh Sahib came into existence on April 13, 1992. It is named after Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the youngest son of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and is located between Ludhiana and Rupnagar, 50 km west of Chandigarh. The economy of the district is mainly based on agriculture, industry, and allied activities. The main towns in the district are Sirhind, Bassi Pathana, Amloh, Khamano, and Mandi Gobindgarh. Mandi Gobindgarh is also known as the ‘Steel Town of India’ due to the large number of steel rolling mills.

    Ferozepur is a city in the state of Punjab, India. It was founded by Feroze Shah Tughlaq, a ruler of the Tughlaq dynasty, in the 14th century. The city served as a key strategic location for the Mughal Empire and was also a major center of trade. In the 18th century, the city was annexed by the Sikh Empire and became a part of the Sikh homeland of Punjab. In the 19th century, the British East India Company took control of the city and it remained under British rule until 1947. The city has a long history of military importance and was the site of several battles, including the Battle of Ferozeshah, during the Anglo-Sikh Wars.

    Gurdaspur district is a district in the Majha region of Punjab, India. The district is bounded by the River Beas to the north, the River Ravi to the west, and the River Sutlej to the south. The eastern boundary of the district is the international border with Pakistan. The district has an area of 2,323 square kilometers and a population of 1,539,458 (2011 census). The district is divided into four sub-districts: Gurdaspur, Batala, Pathankot, and Dera Baba Nanak. The district has a literacy rate of 73.4%.

    The Hoshiarpur district was formed on November 1, 1966. The district is named after its headquarters, the city of Hoshiarpur. The district is located in the Punjab state of India. The district covers an area of 3,347 square kilometers. As of 2011, the district has a population of 1,631,168. The district has a literacy rate of 76.97%. The district is divided into four sub-divisions: Hoshiarpur, Dasuya, Tanda, and Garhshankar. The district has four tehsils: Hoshiarpur, Dasuya, Tanda, and Garhshankar. The district is bounded by the districts of Jalandhar, Kapurthala, and Nawanshahr.

    Kapurthala also known as City of Palaces or Paris of Punjab, is situated in Doaba region at confluence of river Beas and Sutluj. The Kapurthala district was created in November, 1884. The town was founded by Rai Ahmad Khan Kharial, a Jat chieftain, in the 18th century. The district was part of the Punjab province of British India until 1947, when it became part of the Indian state of Punjab. The district was divided into two parts in 1966, with the northern part becoming the Hoshiarpur district. The southern part of the district was renamed Kapurthala district in 1970.

    The city of Ludhiana was founded in 1480 by Lodhi ruler Sikander Lodhi. It served as the capital of the Lodhi dynasty until 1526, when the last Lodhi ruler was defeated by the Mughal emperor Babur. Ludhiana then became a part of the Mughal empire and remained under Mughal rule until 1739, when the Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh conquered the city. Ludhiana remained under Sikh rule until the British annexed the Sikh empire in 1849. The British developed Ludhiana as a major center of the woolen textile industry. Ludhiana continued to grow rapidly after India's independence in 1947. Today, it is a major industrial city and a major transportation hub in northern India.

    Malerkotla is a new district in Punjab that was carved out of Sangrur on June 2, 2021. The district is divided into three subdivisions: Malerkotla, Amargarh, and Ahmedgarh. Malerkotla takes its name from the princely state of Maler Kotla that existed under the British Raj. The district is famous for its poets and monuments. It is also a major supplier of vegetables and is known for its artisans who make hand-embroidered badges and insignias for the armed forces. Malerkotla is also known for its metal industry and the manufacture of agricultural machinery.

    Mansa district was formed in 1992 from the Bathinda district. It is a small district in terms of population and area and is situated on the rail line between Bathinda and Delhi and on the Barnala-Sardulgarh-Sirsa Road. Mansa is in the cotton belt of Punjab and is called the “Area of white gold”. Agriculture forms the backbone of the district economy and the population is Punjabi-speaking and is wedded to the culture of the Malwa belt of Punjab. The district is deficient in industry, yet some trade and industry is being carried out in the urban areas.

    The district of Moga lies in the southern part of the state of Punjab in India. The city of Moga is the district headquarters. The district was carved out of the erstwhile Faridkot district on November 9, 1995 on the basis of linguistic majority. The new district consist of four tehsils, Moga, Dharamkot, Baghapurana and Nihal Singh Wala.

    The Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District also known as Mohali has been carved out of areas falling in Ropar and Patiala district as the 18th District of Punjab. Because of its connectivity with the union territory of Chandigarh, the district has been formed to achieve growth of development as this area is emerging as a major I.T. hub of Northern India. The district includes Mohali, Kharar, and Dera Bassi teshils. It is located in the north-east part of Punjab and is part of Rupnagar division. The district includes 383 villages. The important townships in the district are Kharar, Kurali, Mohali, Zirakpur, and Dera Bassi. Kharar block is the largest administrative unit of the district with 138 villages followed by Majri block with 116 villages and Derabassi block with 102 villages.

    Sri Muktsar Sahib district is one of the 22 districts in the state of Punjab, India. The district was created on November 7, 1995, and its administrative headquarters are in the city of Sri Muktsar Sahib. The district has an area of 2,362 square kilometers and a population of 1,005,177 (2011 census). The district is bounded by the districts of Faridkot to the north, Barnala to the east, Bathinda to the south, and Ferozepur to the west. The city of Sri Muktsar Sahib is the district's largest city and its only municipal corporation. Other notable towns in the district include Malout, Giddarbaha, and Kotkapura. The economy of the district is primarily agricultural, with wheat and rice being the major crops. The district is also home to a number of industries, including textiles, sugar, and paper.

    Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district (formerly Nawanshahr district) is a district in the state of Punjab, India. The district was created on November 1, 2008, and is named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a freedom fighter who was born in the village of Banga in the erstwhile Nawanshahr district. The district headquarters is located in the town of Nawanshahr and It consists of three subdivisions, Nawanshahr, Banga, and Balachaur.

    Pathankot is a small city located in Punjab, India. It was officially declared as a district in 2011 and serves as a meeting point for the three northern states i.e. Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. The district has four sub-divisions, Pathankot, Dasuya, Sujanpur Tihra and Mukerian and nine tehsils, Pathankot, Dasuya, Sujanpur Tihra, Mukerian, Bamiyal, Basrur, Bamble, Kotla Nihang and Dharkalan.

    The Patiala district was formed in 1808 by the Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The district was named after the city of Patiala, which served as the capital of the Sikh Empire. The district was annexed by the British Raj in 1849 following the Sikh Wars. The British Raj divided the district into two parts: the northern part became part of the Punjab Province, while the southern part became part of the Princely state of Patiala. After the independence of India in 1947, the district was divided between the newly created states of India and Pakistan. The city of Patiala remained in India, while the rest of the district was split between the two countries.
